Knoxville, TN (December 26, 2017) Lawrence Cornellier scored two goals to break a third period tie and the Knoxville Ice Bears defeated the Fayetteville Marksmen 4-2 on Tuesday night. The Ice Bears have won three straight games for the first time since early November. Knoxville is now 5-0 against Fayetteville this year.

Cornellier scored the game-winning goal on a power play when his backhand from the slot bounced off a defender and slid through the pads of Patrick Spano at 8:01 of the third. The rookie added an empty net goal with 16 seconds remaining.

Berkley Scott struck for Knoxville early when he fielded a pass at center ice and accelerated right between the defense to shoot from the slot. Spano initially got a piece of the puck, but it bounced in behind him at 1:56 of the first.

Elliot Grauer doubled Knoxville’s lead when a clearing attempt by the Marksmen took an odd bounce off the boards and stayed in the zone. Grauer collected the puck in the right circle then turned and fired a wrist shot over Spano’s shoulder at 5:28.

Bryan Dallaire slid a pass from the right point through the slot and connected with John Schiavo on the left side of the crease. Schiavo flipped the puck past Zoltan Hetenyi at 18:22 on the power play to cut Knoxville’s lead in half heading into the first intermission.

Schiavo tied the game 3:47 into the third with a blast from the left point that got past a screened Hetenyi.

The Ice Bears host the Huntsville Havoc on Friday for Daddy Daughter Date Night as well as the annual teddy bear toss – puck drop is at 7:30 pm.  For tickets visit www.ticketmaster.com
