Ice Bears’ Kelley Snipes Four in Ice Bears Victory

Knoxville, TN (December 29, 2017) Tommy Kelley had four goals and two assists and the Knoxville Ice Bears defeated the Huntsville Havoc 8-4 on Friday night at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum. The Ice Bears have won four straight games.

Kelley scored once in the first period, had two power-play goals in the second and added his fourth in the third period. He also assisted on goals by Dean Yakura and Tyler Palmer. Lawrence Cornellier and Berkley Scott also scored for Knoxville. The Ice Bears finished 3-7 on the power play against the Havoc’s top-ranked penalty kill.

Christian Powers scored two goals for Huntsville. Tyler Piacentini and Alex Botten also had tallies for the Havoc, who had a two-game win streak snapped.

Despite the outcome, the Ice Bears were outshot 46-35. Zoltan Hetenyi made 42 saves for Knoxville. Mike DeLaVergne allowed all eight goals in the start for Huntsville.

Knoxville returns to action Saturday night at home against Evansville. Huntsville travels back to Alabama to host the Peoria Rivermen.
