Knoxville, TN (April 6, 2018) Nathan Bruyere scored with 9:26 remaining and the Pensacola Ice Flyers hung on to defeat the Knoxville Ice Bears 2-1 on Friday night at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum.

The loss snaps a six-game win streak at home for Knoxville. The Ice Bears also went 0-7 on the power play. Knoxville can finish no higher than 5th in the SPHL standings.

Bruyere scored the eventual game-winner during a 4-on-3 with a shot from the perimeter that went in off the post to beat Troy Davenport.

Knoxville scored first when a shot from Mike Chen at the right point was blocked in the left circle. Evan Neugold picked up the rebound and fired a spinning shot past Alex Sakellaropoulos at 12:41 of the second.

The Ice Flyers tied the game five minutes later when a clearing attempt in the Knoxville end was deflected back right in front of the crease on Garrett Milan’s stick. Milan collected the puck and flipped it over Davenport for his 14th goal of the season.

Sakellaropoulos finished with 30 saves for Pensacola. Davenport had 18 for Knoxville. The two teams will wrap up the regular season Saturday night in Knoxville.
