01/18/2019 8:51 PM -

Knoxville, TN (January 18, 2019) Danny Cesarz scored in the third period to spoil a shutout, extending his point streak to nine games, but the Ice Bears fell to the Huntsville Havoc 4-1 at the Civic Coliseum on Friday night in front of a heroic crowd of 4,618.

Michael Santaguida made 26 saves for Knoxville. Max Milosek stopped 31 shots for the Havoc.

John Schiavo opened the scoring for Huntsville with a wrister from the left circle at 5:31 of the first. The Havoc extended the lead when Christian Powers was tied up with a Knoxville skater and collided with Michael Santaguida causing the puck to bounce into the net at 13:02.

Marcus Ortiz nearly got one back for the Ice Bears later in the first, but his backhand from the left hash clipped the right post and deflected wide.

Ryan Salkeld finished off a 2-on-1 while the teams were skating 4-on-4 at 14:13 of the second. Salkeld received the puck from Kyle Sharkey, waited for Santaguida to commit and slid the backhand by the Knoxville goalie to make it 3-0 Huntsville at the second intermission.

Cesarz spoiled Milosek’s perfect night with a backhand in the slot that he lifted into the upper right corner at 4:38 of the third. Salkeld added an empty netter to round out the scoring.

Knoxville finishes the home-and-home with Huntsville back in Alabama on Saturday.  Check out all of the action through www.sphllive.com or join the Ice Bears at their official road game broadcast location Stefano’s in Turkey Creek.
