Knoxville, TENN. (13 August 2019) – Knoxville Ice Bears Head Coach Jeff Carr announced Tuesday the signing of Lonnie Clary for the 2019-2020 season.
Clary, 24, joined the Ice Bears late last season and had 5 points (1G, 4A) in his 11 games played, including the 2019 SPHL playoffs. Before being added to the Knoxville lineup, Clary played for Marian University (NCAA III) in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The Riverside, California native has been on Carr’s radar for some time now, “I’ve been following Lonnie since he was in Fairbanks [NAHL] and I’m glad we added him at the end of last year. His energy and the way he agitates opponents made him an instant fan-favorite.”
Clary’s net-front presence and scrappy approach to the game make him an important part of the locker room cohesiveness. Beyond his outward energy, Clary is a valuable, reliable teammate every night. Another returning player, Clary adds an important element of consistency to Knoxville’s roster, as the Ice Bears head toward their 2019 Training Camp.
The Ice Bears’ regular season campaign will begin, at home, on October 18th versus the Evansville Thunderbolts.
