Ice Bears lose in overtime

After winning a Christmas-day game in Columbus yesterday, the Ice Bears lost to the Richmond Renegades in overtime tonight at home. The first period was scoreless, but the Renegades put up tow points in the second period.

Mark Van Vliet scored the first goal for Knoxville, assisted by Ryan Moore and Shawn Norrie. Derek Pallardy scored an unassisted Ice Bears’ goal; followed by Tim Vitek’s power play goal, which was assisted by Kevin Swider and Mike Carter; however, Josh Coyle tied the game for Richmond at the end of the third period. John Halverson put the final point on the board for the Renegades, to end the game with a score of 4-3.

The Knoxville Ice Bears will play at home again tomorrow night for Healthcare Night. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
