date: 03/20/2010
After splitting a pair of games on the road, the Knoxville Ice Bears returned to the Civic Coliseum to face second-place Huntsville Havoc in the hopes of earning valuable points in the standings. The Havoc proved too much for the home team as the Ice Bears lose 5-2.
Huntsville converted a 5-on-3 power play at 10:16 into the first to score the first goal of the game. Knoxville’s Bobby Joe Pelkey answered back at 15:16 for his twentieth goal of the season off a pass from Tim Vitek and Kevin Swider to end the period tied at 1.
Huntsville’s Justin Rohr scored a short-handed goal at 8:19 into the second for the only goal of the period, which ended with Huntsville leading Knoxville 2-1.
Vitek evened the score at two apiece at 5:40 into the third with assists from Swider and goalie Andrew Gallant. Vitek has 19 goals on the season and a goal and an assist on the night. Huntsville scored three goals, including a penalty shot, in the third to take the game away from the Ice Bears. Final score was 5-2 Huntsville.
